Rewriting of old TRAC URLs

Description
The errorlogs show some requests to the old Trac URL timeline. These need to be redirected to the new activity function in Redmine. Using mod_rewrite with .htaccess files does not seem to work.

Guys, anybody of you who can shed some light on "rewriting URLs" that do not exist in Redmine / Ruby on Rails? Maybe recoding the 404 Error into a redirect to the Project Homepage?
